As I mentioned in October, I will begin supporting Mathieu from January 1st to ensure a smooth handover. Starting in the new year, I’ll be working closely with Anne Brachet, EVP AFI KLM E&M to manage key projects for AFI KLM E&M, alongside other collaborations with OEMs and Supply Chain improvements. I will officially retire in the summer of 2025, with a formal farewell planned for next year. I look forward to seeing you all in the meantime. I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank you for your expertise and professionalism in performing your role. I also appreciate your commitment, cooperation, and flexibility over the past few years. I am incredibly proud of all 5,000 E&M team members, of what we’ve overcome together and what we’ve achieved as a team. I am truly grateful to have had the privilege of holding this position together with AFKL E&M. Despite the challenges we’ve faced, E&M is now firmly established. I have full confidence in the improvement plans, and I know they will succeed, thanks to all of you. The personal connections and unforgettable moments will always remain with me! This holiday season, take the time to enjoy the company of loved ones and recharge for a new year full of opportunities and possibilities. I would also like to extend my warmest wishes to our colleagues who have been missed during this recent period and wish them a speedy recovery. The Executive Management Team wishes everyone happy holidays and a happy, but above all healthy 2025. In particular, we would like to express our appreciation and thanks to all E&M colleagues who are at work during the holidays.
Thank you!
What is Christmas?
Christmas, celebrated on 25th December, is one of the world's biggest holidays, with origins in the Christian tradition. It commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ, but today it is celebrated worldwide by people from different backgrounds. In many countries, celebrations begin as early as Christmas Eve, 24th December. Origin and meaning Christmas originated as a religious holiday celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem. The story of his birth, including the star that guided the wise men to the stable and the angels proclaiming peace on earth, is recorded in the Bible. While Christmas has Christian roots, today it is celebrated as a cultural holiday representing love, family, and peace. Traditional celebrations Christmas is marked by several beloved traditions, with the Christmas tree being one of the most iconic. Families decorate the tree with lights and ornaments, and Christmas dinner, featuring dishes like turkey, ham, and Christmas cake, plays an important role in the celebration. Father Christmas is another key figure, delivering gifts on Christmas Eve to children who have been well-behaved. In the Netherlands, Christmas is typically celebrated with family visits, gift exchanges, and a cosy meal. In countries like Germany and the US, Christmas markets and decorating homes with festive lights are popular traditions. In places like Australia, where Christmas falls during the summer, people often celebrate outdoors with barbecues and beach activities. Meaning of Christmas Christmas is more than just gifts and festive meals—it is also a time for reflection, love, and sharing. It is a season of gratitude and a time to care for others, particularly those who are less fortunate. Many people use this time to support charities, donate food, or simply spend quality moments with loved ones. While Christmas traditions may vary around the world, the message remains universal: a time for love, peace, and connection. Merry Christmas!
