De combinatie van issues met materiaal-leveringen door wereldwijde ‘supply chain’-problemen, tekort aan personeel, en het in- en uit-faseren van meerdere vliegtuigtypes vanwege de komst van de nieuwe Airbusvliegtuigen, zijn er de oorzaken van dat het organiseren van onderhoud de komende jaren complexer is dan gebruikelijk.

Veiligheid blijft de hoogste prioriteit bij KLM en E&M. Vliegtuigen die niet grondig zijn gecontroleerd, verlaten de Hangaar of de gate niet. Hierin hebben alle E&M’ers een rol. Het is daarnaast de verantwoordelijkheid van de bedrijfsleiding om te zorgen dat de hoeveelheid werk past bij de capaciteit van de organisatie en hiermee ook zeker te stellen dat het operationeel maakbaar is en blijft.

Om die redenen zijn er voorgenomen besluiten genomen binnen Airframe om werk deels anders te organiseren of te verplaatsen. Het doel hiervan is het goed laten aansluiten van de werkvoorraad op de collega’s op dienst, zoals ook gecommuniceerd op 30 januari.

Deze keuzes maken we bewust. We sluiten geen compromissen als het gaat om veiligheid. Door deze ingrepen kan er gepland en ongepland onderhoud plaatsvinden op ons gebruikelijke, hoge niveau en blijven wij kwaliteit garanderen.

Deze voorgenomen besluiten hebben impact op onze collega’s en daar zijn wij ons van bewust. Het is daarom van belang dat we naar elkaar blijven luisteren en met elkaar in gesprek blijven gaan.

Het is essentieel dat alle E&M’ers hun werkzaamheden blijven uitvoeren binnen ons Safety Management Systeem (SMS) en volgens de bestaande procedures, voorschriften en instructies.

Als zich een situatie voordoet waarin je twijfels hebt of iets (bijna) niet is goed gegaan of je ziet onveilige werkwijzen, acteer hierop en blijf dit melden.

Net als bij iedere geplande verandering beoordelen we vooraf de impact van de voorgenomen besluiten op gebied van safety en daarna volgen wij de eventuele occurences. Iedere occurence is er één die helpt in ons veiligheidssysteem waarbinnen we continu moeten blijven leren.

Dit geldt voor alle operationele units in E&M. Alle meldingen en occurences worden beoordeeld en voorzien van een reactie. Lokaal kun je ook je eigen Safety Functionaris aanspreken als je voorvallen of zorgen wilt bespreken. Zij kunnen je helpen bij het maken van een melding, al dan niet anoniem. Dit kan natuurlijk ook via je leidinggevende, Lead of een collega die Starpoint in een Safety Council is. Door deze meldingen kan er worden gewerkt aan oplossingen en verbeteringen, daarom is dit ook een van de pijlers van ons Safety Management Systeem.

Laten we daarom onze krachten bundelen en goed samen blijven werken. Alleen zo kunnen we met vertrouwen de uitdagingen van de huidige tijd aangaan.

The combination of issues with material supplies due to global supply chain problems, a shortage of personnel and the phasing in and out of multiple aircraft types due to the arrival of new Airbus aircraft, make the organization of maintenance more complex in the coming years than usual.

Safety remains the top priority at KLM and E&M. Aircraft that have not been thoroughly checked do not leave the Hangar or the gate. All E&M employees have a role to play in this. In addition, it is the responsibility of the management to ensure that the amount of work matches the capacity of the organization and thus to ensure that it is and remains operationally feasible.

For these reasons, proposed decisions have been made within Airframe to partly reorganize or relocate work. The aim is to ensure that the workload is properly aligned with the colleagues on duty, as also communicated on 30 January.

We make the above choices consciously, precisely because we do not compromise on safety. This allows for planned and unplanned maintenance to take place at the high level that is established, ensuring that we maintain the quality.

These intended decisions have impact on our colleagues, and we are aware of this. It is therefore important that we continue to listen to each other and remain in dialogue.

It is essential that all E&M employees continue to perform their work within our Safety Management System (SMS) and according to existing procedures, regulations, and instructions.

If a situation arises in which you have doubts or something has (almost) gone wrong or you see unsafe practices are taking place, please act and keep reporting this.

Like with every intended change, a proactive assessment is made of the safety impact of these intended changes. Thereafter we follow up on related occurrences, that may be written by anyone. This allows us to learn and improve within our Safety Management System. Every occurrence is one that helps in our safety system on which we have to keep on learning.

This applies to all operational units in E&M. All reports and occurrences are evaluated and provided with a response. Locally, you can also approach your own Safety Officer if you want to discuss incidents or concerns. They can help you make a report, anonymously or otherwise. This can also be done through your manager, Lead, or a colleague who is a Starpoint in a Safety Council. These reports can help work towards solutions and improvements, which is why it is one of the pillars of our Safety Management System.
