Benoemingen binnen KLM E&M
Olaf Hoftijzer benoemd tot Vice President (VP) Component Services
Olaf Hoftijzer wordt per 1 maart 2025 benoemd tot VP Component Services en volgt daarmee Dominik Wiener-Silva op. Olaf wordt vanuit KLM E&M verantwoordelijk voor het onderhoud en de beschikbaarheid van vliegtuigcomponenten. Hij gaat onderdeel uitmaken van het Engineering & Maintenance Management Team. Olaf Hoftijzer: “Ik kijk enorm uit naar mijn nieuwe functie en de bijbehorende werkzaamheden. Hoewel ik me bewust ben van de uitdagende tijden die voor ons liggen, heb ik er alle vertrouwen in dat we deze samen kunnen overwinnen door in gesprek te blijven en samen te werken.”
Met ruim 25 jaar ervaring binnen de KLM Groep heeft Olaf diverse commerciële en operationele managementrollen binnen E&M, in zowel binnen- als buitenland, vervuld. Als Managing Director van Regional Jet Center (RJC) heeft Olaf de afgelopen twee jaar op energieke wijze richting gegeven aan RJC en daarbij veel operationele uitdagingen het hoofd geboden. Daarnaast heeft hij het opleidingstraject Route 66 succesvol uitgebouwd en de band met KLM Cityhopper versterkt. Daarvoor was Olaf onder andere werkzaam als VP Sales Europe & Key Accounts bij de E&M Commercial Organization (EMCO) en Director Training E&M. Ik heb er alle vertrouwen in dat Olaf met zijn ervaring en ondernemersmentaliteit, de herstelprogramma’s die door Dominik zijn gestart, succesvol zal voortzetten samen met zijn toegewijde team. Hij is geschikt om KLM-operaties en onze wereldwijde klanten te ondersteunen, en bij te dragen aan de financiële prestaties van KLM en AFI KLM. Component Services heeft uitdagingen, maar ik geloof dat hij en zijn team deze in goede banen zal leiden. Ik kijk uit naar de samenwerking. Olaf, ik wil je hartelijk danken voor je waardevolle bijdrage aan RJC de afgelopen jaren en wens je veel succes in je nieuwe functie.
Marcel Bakker benoemd tot Managing Director Regional Jet Center
Marcel Bakker start op 1 maart 2025 als Managing Director van Regional Jet Center (RJC) en volgt hiermee Olaf Hoftijzer op. Marcel is momenteel werkzaam als Plantleader bij Line Maintenance Schiphol (LMS). Met meer dan 10 jaar ervaring bij KLM en 14 jaar bij Martinair in zowel operationele als managementfuncties, brengt Marcel aanzienlijke kennis en expertise mee. De afgelopen acht jaar was hij Plantleader LMS bij KLM E&M. Daar heeft hij samen met zijn team, met focus op digitalisering en innovatie, koers vastgehouden en een aantal mooie prestaties gerealiseerd. Onder zijn leiding werden onder andere de F-pier verbouwd, de 737 Narrow-Body en Wide-Body unit samengevoegd, Ivop als ondersteunende digitale tool voor de GWK’s geïntroduceerd en was LMS de eerste afdeling op Schiphol Centrum die beschikking kreeg over elektrische voertuigen en laadpalen. Zijn laatste functies bij Martinair waren die van Director Cargo Operations en Director Operations Control. Met deze benoeming keert hij terug naar de organisatie waar hij zijn carrière begon, nu als Managing Director.
Marcel Bakker: “Ik kijk terug op een geweldige tijd bij KLM E&M, waar ik heb mogen samenwerken met fantastische, professionele en betrokken collega's. Ik ben trots op wat we samen hebben bereikt en zal de warme herinneringen koesteren. In deze functie keer ik als het ware terug naar Martinair en ik kijk uit naar deze nieuwe uitdaging, evenals de samenwerking met RJC-collega's en -klanten." Zodra de opvolger van Marcel bekend is, zal hierover worden gecommuniceerd. Ik wil Marcel bedanken voor zijn bijdrage aan Line Maintenance Schiphol en KLM E&M, en wens je veel succes bij RJC.

Olaf Hoftijzer appointed Vice President (VP) Component Services
Effective 1 March 2025, Olaf Hoftijzer will be appointed as VP Component Services, succeeding Dominik Wiener-Silva. Olaf will be responsible for the maintenance and availability of aircraft components within KLM E&M. He will join the Engineering & Maintenance Management Team. Olaf Hoftijzer: “I am excited about my new role and the responsibilities that come with it. While I am aware of the challenging times ahead, I have full confidence that we can overcome them together by staying in dialogue and working collaboratively.”
With over 25 years of experience within the KLM Group, Olaf has held various commercial and operational management roles within E&M, both domestically and internationally. As Managing Director of Regional Jet Center (RJC), Olaf has energetically guided the RJC over the past two years, addressing many operational challenges. Additionally, he has successfully expanded the Route 66 training program and strengthened the relationship with KLM Cityhopper. Prior to that, Olaf served as VP Sales Europe & Key Accounts at the E&M Commercial Organization (EMCO) and Director Training E&M, among other roles. I am confident that Olaf, with his experience and entrepreneurial mindset, will successfully continue the recovery programs initiated by Dominik, together with his dedicated team. He is well-suited to support KLM operations and our global customers, and to contribute to the financial performance of KLM and AFI KLM. Component Services faces challenges, but I am convinced that he and his team will manage them effectively. I look forward to the collaboration. Marcel Bakker appointed as Managing Director of Regional Jet Center
Marcel Bakker will start as Managing Director of Regional Jet Center (RJC) on 1 March 2025, succeeding Olaf Hoftijzer. Marcel is currently serving as Plant/Unit Leader at Line Maintenance Schiphol. With over 10 years of experience at KLM and 14 years at Martinair in both operational and management roles, Marcel brings substantial knowledge and expertise. Over the past eight years, he served as Plant Leader LMS at KLM E&M. There, he and his team have maintained their course with a focus on digitization and innovation, achieving several notable accomplishments. Under his leadership, the F-pier was renovated, the 737 Narrow-Body and Wide-Body units were merged, Ivop was introduced as a supporting digital tool for the GWK’s, and LMS became the first department at Schiphol Center to have access to electric vehicles and charging stations. His most recent positions at Martinair were Director Cargo Operations and Director Operations Control. With this appointment, he returns to the organization where he began his career, now as Managing Director.
Marcel Bakker: “I look back on a wonderful time at KLM E&M, where I had the opportunity to work with fantastic, professional, and dedicated colleagues. I am proud of what we have achieved together and will cherish the warm memories. In this role, I am essentially returning to Martinair, and I look forward to this new challenge, as well as the collaboration with RJC colleagues and clients.” Once the successor to Marcel Bakker is known, further communication will follow.
