Dear colleagues, As you know, we’re working hard on our recovery. But high non-performance costs are still impacting our financial results negatively. These costs stem from supply chain disruptions, today’s challenging labour market and our own internal processes. Since returning from holiday, together with Dominik Wiener-Silva (VP Component Services) I’ve devoted a fair amount of time to Component Services. Here, the focus lies on the operational and financial improvement plan, directed at boosting our financial results and achieving our objectives. In addition, we will soon return to broader measures given the lagging results. This week, I’ll be travelling to Seattle, Washington together with Martijn de Vries (VP Engine Services) and our E&M AFKL Commercial colleagues to meet with Alaska Airlines for important negotiations within the scope of a LEAP tender. This is a critical time for us and I’m looking forward to the outcome. On Wednesday, 31 July, our colleagues at Line Maintenance International (LMI) celebrated their 25th anniversary. What started modestly a quarter of a century ago with a few outstations and a handful of passionate employees has now grown into a household name in the world of line maintenance. Thanks to the dedication and hard work of no less than 730 LMI colleagues across 52 countries, they make a difference every day. In addition to supporting AFKL operations technically, they also provide valuable services to many external customers. Congratulations to everyone who contributed! After three years of “Entry into Service”, E&M’s preparations are almost ready for the arrival of the first aircraft in the series – the Airbus 321neo. This aircraft will touch down at Schiphol on 27 August 2024 and will be welcomed in Hangar 12. An event will be organised to give the new aircraft a warm welcome, after which E&M will put the finishing touches to preparing the aircraft for its first flights. The aircraft will be taken into operation in September, with Berlin, Copenhagen and Stockholm as its first destinations. You’ll be able to read more about this soon in the E&M Scope Special scheduled for publication 28 August. In conclusion, Aero-Engines Europe is scheduled to be held at the “Beurs van Berlage” in Amsterdam on 10 and 11 September. AFI KLM E&M is the event’s chief sponsor and more than 400 participants from all over the world will attend. Around 100 guests will have a unique opportunity to join an MRO Facility Tour at Engine Services. The tour is scheduled for 11 September from 14:00 to 16:30 hours. An attractive programme has been put together for the tour and registrations for it have been received with great enthusiasm. It’s already almost fully booked, presenting us with an excellent opportunity to showcase what we have to offer. Our motto of “Building t(h)rust together” will be brilliantly reflected. After the event, a special edition of E&M Scope will be published focusing entirely on Aero-Engines Europe, sharing the ins and outs of the conference days and the MRO Facility Tour. Best regards,
