Dear colleagues,

As we approach the end of the year, we would like to look back at the past year. It was a tough operational year caused by several factors, including a disrupted supply chain, ongoing problems with delivery times of parts worldwide, and a tight labour market. In addition, we faced political tensions and crises worldwide. Despite these challenges, we remained alert to our increasing costs, including labour costs, significantly higher costs from supply chain issues and non-performance costs of both KLM and KLM E&M.

Highlights 2023

Together, despite all the challenges, we also achieved some great achievements in 2023 of which we can be proud. Although there are too many to name them all, we have compiled a few for you.

Looking ahead to 2024

Having reflected on the past year, we would like to look ahead to the new year. We are here to create unforgettable memories for KLM and our customers. Much is changing in the world, but the fact that KLM is proudly flying around the world will remain. We will continue to do so more cleanly, quietly and economically. We have a responsibility to give not only our generation, but the generations that follow us the opportunity to continue to discover our beautiful world.

As in 2023, our focus for KLM E&M in 2024 is on both restoring and stabilising the KLM operation, as well as our E&M operation. To achieve this, our goal remains the same: Getting operational performance back to the level we promise by together creating the conditions to get it done. Here, our three pillars are again central: Operations | People | Customer. Within KLM E&M, in addition to KLM operations, we will continue to respond to developments within KLM, AFI KLM E&M, our customers, and in the MRO market. Although we do not know what the future will bring us, we look ahead optimistically.

Once again, I would like to express my sincere thanks to all the E&M employees who gave their all during this operationally tough year. You have shown your flexibility and determination. It was not an easy year, but thanks to your hard work, we as an E&M family have shown that we can face challenges and achieve successes. 'WE ARE E&M', which means that we work together, support and inspire each other to do our best. I am confident that we will maintain this spirit in the new year as well and continue to work for KLM E&M and our customers. Together, let us be proud of what we achieved in 2023 and look forward to a new year full of opportunities and possibilities. I wish everyone a Happy New Year, and a healthy and happy 2024!
