E&M in action
C checks at KLM-UK Norwich
After taking a look at outsourcing aircraft maintenance, this article offers insight into our E&M KLM-UK MRO, where we perform some of KLM’s B737 C checks.
The KLM-UK MRO performs maintenance for six different airlines. Besides KLM, KLM-UK also carries out maintenance for several other airline operators. Over and above regular maintenance in the hangar, they have a number of support shops, as does KLM, where repair parts can be created on the basis of approved data, and limited component repairs can be carried out.
C check schedule
A total of 17 B737 C checks are scheduled in Norwich from July to the end of March 2024 when KLM’s winter schedule closes. The turnaround time depends on the type and severity of the C check, varying from 10 days to 34 days.
In preparation for execution in Norwich, work portfolios are compiled by the Planning & Workload Control department and sent to KLM-UK. In parallel, the Logistics department (MEF) ensures that all the materials required for the check are shipped.
During the check, B1 joins the techrep to ensure that KLM’s quality, lead time and (financial) contract agreements are safeguarded.
Mutual working relationship
KLM E&M has been coming to KLM-UK for its C checks for a number of years now and an excellent working relationship has been established over this period. When challenges are encountered during maintenance, having a good relationship is of great value in finding solutions.
