A safe workplace free of alcohol, drugs and other prohibited substances

A safe workplace is the joint responsibility of KLM and its employees. Safety also means having a workplace and employees free from alcohol, drugs, and other prohibited substances or medications that can impair judgment and reaction time. Two of our safety principles are not without reason: work safely and ensure you are fit.

KLM attaches great importance to the health and sustainable employability of its employees. That's why support is given to employees with problematic (substance) use of medication, alcohol and drugs (MAD). Information about MAD is already widely available for flying staff, but a document with all the relevant information is now also available for non-flying staff on MyKLM. It includes information about the rules at KLM/KLC, how KLM supports you in the event of a potential addiction, and the consequences of using MAD substances or being under the influence while at work, among other topics.
