E&M in action
Project Shop Hydraulics to Hangar 14 on track
Good news: the construction of the new Component Repair Shop Hydraulics is going according to plan and still within budget. This new shop is part of the Component Tech Centre programme and will be built as an extension of approximately 1,500 m² to Hangar 14. 119 piles were installed for the foundation and 33 concrete trucks were used for the floor. In addition, 195 tonnes of steel were used in the construction.
In this new space, large, heavy and expensive test machines are placed in specially designed test rooms. These rooms are equipped with special connections and noise-reducing walls. Meanwhile, hard work is also being done in Hangar 14. Work spaces for the Hydraulics mechanics are being created here, as well as a logistics room, laundry room, machine room, and office and team spaces. The new facilities in Hangar 14 cover approximately the same surface area as the extension, resulting in an extensive shop with many specific architectural and technical elements. Soon, hydraulic components such as IDG/VFSG and cooling systems will be maintained in the new Hydraulics Shop.
Construction ready for summer 2025 Construction is expected to be completed before the summer of 2025. After that, the transition from Building 425 to Hangar 14 will start. This complex process is already being prepared by the Component Tech Centre programme team, the Hydraulics department, Direct Support, Development Engineering, suppliers of the test benches and removal company. The goal is to ensure that the shop experiences as little disruption as possible during this transition.
The employees concerned will soon receive an update and the opportunity to take a look at the construction site.
